03/20 - 8:00 pm - Dr. Yes! & the Soulgazers + Team Shark Week + The Thief Chief

Dr. Yes! & the Soulgazers

Dr. Yes!, hi-fi/electro/funk/pop wizard has recently unleashed his band The Soulgazers onto the world with their debut album "Live!..From Your Head". In addition to the groovy vibes the doctor lays down with electric piano, synth and vocals, The Soulgazers showcase epic rock guitar from Sesar Sanchor (Red Giant) and soul-shaking drums from Lando Mobad (Floss Anonymous, The Amblers). Armed with an arsenal of effects pedals, loopers, and vocal processors, Dr. Yes! and associates create music that has been described as an “engaging, funky, ethereal sound” and “hypnotizing and fun to watch”.

Team Shark Week

Team Shark Week is a Chico, CA based indie-electro duo consisting of Matt Houar (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Steve Spirk (Bass, Keyboards, Engineering), and formerly Rob Reeves (Bass, Keyboard, Vocals).

Team Shark Week formed in the closing months of 2006 with the goal of having a two-man outfit that could get people dancing with the effectiveness of a four-man crew. After months of painstaking work, they began playing shows in January of 2007. After many shows, Team Shark Week began work on our full-length album. Towards the end of the recording, Rob moved to San Francisco to go to college and the Team was put on temporary hiatus.

Upon Rob’s return to Chico, they released their first album, Hospitalizer. The Team was once again put on hiatus when Matt adventured to Hawaii in the later months of 2008. With a new album in the works, and the addition of Steve Spirk (Bass, Keyboards, Engineering), 2010 will see Team Shark Week back in full force.

The Thief Chief

There is a heartbeat in music -- a finger on the pulse of all that is experienced in this life.  And often without words, I seek to capture that which moves us moment to moment.  Heartache leads to perseverance; disappointment to re-birth; grief to pure bliss...and perhaps more than anything: meaningful, heartfelt reflection.  All of this can be found in the electronically-based music that I call my soul's work.  A melodic symphony of strings, piano, hip-hop beats, and soaring synthesizer sounds that will nourish you long after the final note has been played.
